But for Solitaries you seem to have the gist of it. When you start getting into traditions/sects you get more guidelines/rules than you would with solitary practice. I don't have any information on those traditions, however. The only "universal" Wiccan "rule" is "an it harm none, do as thou wilt." Which, put simply, as long as you're not hurting anyone, you're free to do as you please.

Warlock is an insulting term to any witch, male or female, and if you were to call anyone who truly practices the Craft a warlock, you'd probably receive a hefty kick or a long lecture about why you should never use that word in the presence of a Wiccan or witch. A witch is not bound by any particular religious views or ties. One can be a Wiccan Witch, or a Buddhist Witch, etc. etc. Or just a witch even. Wicca, however, is a religion, which is tied to the Craft.

As for the term healers, I don't think that applies. Not all witchcraft is healing, and that's a very limiting term. Witch is the catch-all term for male and female, and most of the "media" names such as warlock, wizard, healer, etc. are ignored or considered insults.

I consider a witch to be a practitioner of the Craft...someone in tune with the Mysteries, if you will. It is commonly said that you can be a Witch, you can be a Wiccan, and you can be a Wiccan Witch, but you can't be a Wiccan without being a Witch--this is because Wiccans practice the Craft. It's part of the religion.

-halfsmile- That's the other reason I decided to forgo the title of Wiccan. The religion has been tainted by Hollywood and, unfortunately, teenagers. The idea of a religion that gives you "freedom" rather than tying you down with dogmatic do's and don't's...well that suits many teenagers that have been bogged down since childhood. Unfortunately most of them have taken Hollywood's ideas and have helped confuse the already foggy details of what Wicca really is--at least in the eyes of the masses. I don't have room in my life for unnecessary drama, especially in the form of a religion. While my religious views are extraordinarily close to being exactly like those of Wicca, I've found myself enough to have them slightly varied, and I choose not to call myself Wiccan anymore to avoid the...drama...attached to the name.

2009-05-06 [Bookwyrm]: Actually I find I don't mind so much the drama of the title witch. Probably because it leaves me free of religious ties, which is my main source of drama and discord. Unfortunately Harry Potter has created a large amount of drama for both witches and Wiccans. That being said, I'm still a fan. :P The problem is that many people have trouble telling the distinction between fantasy and reality. They're free to delude themselves as they will, I just wish they weren't so violently opposed to beliefs that aren't the same as their own.

Wicca has no specific Gods or Goddesses, although for the most part they worship the Lord and Lady/God and Goddess. This is a representation of the duality we have in our world. Some Wiccans, though, will worship multiple forms of Deity--as Pagans are wont to do. :P And yes, there are some who dance naked in a circle around a fire, or even just dance naked under the sky. And yes, this is even used in ritual. Of course, it's not necessary, and is only done if the witch in question is comfortable with the idea. It is very much a deep belief in expressionism and eternal life. Wicca is very much about expressing Who You Are and being exactly that.

it is my belief that the violence that you see regularly is not more of the religion in question or the opposing beliefs but more of the self esteem issues and the need to dominate others for their own self worth was never established as a child growing up, lol many share my views on this subject though so nothing life altering

Well there's that and there's simply the need to dominate that's been ground into all human minds. That wonderful belief that one needs to reach the "top" no matter how many people they squash in the ascent. We live in a violent society these days, where the belief is "get out of my way or I'll make you wish you had." A lot of it is a need to prove self-worth and dominance, and a lot of it is the sheer belief that it's "MY way or the highway." And no one can deny that--it's the fundamental preaching of the majority of mainstream beliefs these days. If we were to take into account every major--and many minor--religion and believed them all to be true...the entire world is going to hell and there's not a damn thing anyone can do about it. XD Because nearly every religion on the planet teaches its followers that if you don't find redemption and salvation through them, you won't find it anywhere, and you're doomed. So anyone who does not find redemption and salvation through that source is damned for eternity. Well that just sucks! :P And I'm not harping on any single religion here--that's just a general belief of most religions. And it's understandable--how else would the religion survive if it didn't give its followers a reason to need it? Still...I don't like it. XD

2009-05-07 [Done with all of this]: i completely agree but its been of much debate recently if you have done specific research into it that, this is a phenomena due to the culture we surround ourselves with, this is not human nature, this is human behavior, this is not how humans are programed at birth this is how humans are conditioned everyday of their lives, i believe you can get that zen, that peace of mind absent of religion and i believe you dont have to destroy everything in your path, i believe that is a side effect of the condition forced upon us by this culture, you should look up a movie called zeitgeist, its very interesting and illuminating on many subjects, and if all else fails it will just be a interesting thing to think about

That's why all I ask is that people be understanding of other's beliefs and cultures...not necessarily accepting, but understanding. That's at least one step toward acceptance. And would do the world an amazing amount of good. I'll have to look into that movie. :D I think I've heard of it.

Poison Apple? Well my old name was Mothyr Witch. I had that name for about three years, and I finally decided I needed a change. Mostly I adore apples--they have such a prominent role in mythology and fantasy...they're probably my favourite fruit for that reason. And the poison apple is a great focus for a story...I just sort of picked it up. It's my favourite online handle when I manage to snag it.

2010-07-05 [Bookwyrm]: Okay so here's the deal, I simply don't keep this page updated as much as I want to. This isn't because of a lack of interest in the wiki, but rather difficulty keeping things updated, fresh, and also fixing errors on two separate wikis--as this wiki is operated on both Elfpack and Elftown. This wiki is approximately 300 pages in size...that's a LOT of pages to keep updated!! So...here is my proposal...

I'm thinking of creating a blog or website on which all this information and more will be available. I will be taking direct copies of everything here, and keeping them on the external site--with the fixes, corrections, and updates that are needed on the wiki. I already have all the pages from this wiki copied down and they are being reformatted and rewritten as necessary.

I'm thinking I may recreate the Grimoire on a website, which will be connected to a blog that will have regular ramblings, tips, and extra stuff from me...that way I'll always have something to do.

The website/blog WILL have ads, but they will be ads pertaining to our subject if at all possible. I know this may gain some groans, but at the present time I'm unemployed, and really need to find a way to make at least a little income, so I hope you'll forgive me from trying to keep food in my stomach--especially when there's a little one in there too. :P

Also I hope to create a "product-testing" part of the blog, where I purchase something from popular online witchcraft supply stores (hopefully ones that are on our ad list), test them out myself, and write an honest review about the product in question. I know there's a lot of issues with faulty witch-suppliers online, and I'd like to help with that myself. But first--I need an income. :P

There will also be a weekly "advice column" section if I have enough followers on the blog.

So my question to you all is...would you visit the site? Would you visit the blog? Would you be interested in seeing this happen? This is my first step to my online witchcraft supply store, and I need some feedback. What do you all think? :)

Chance is talking about buying domain space when he goes back to work (I found a great host that allows unlimited domain names for about $3.50 a month, which is uber!), that way I can have the website and the blog under its own name. :D That'd be the most preferable route, but we have to get there first.

We're giving this a lot of thought, but I think that's the direction this place is headed. But change is good, it allows room for growth. :D

My throat swells up and my mouth itches. I also can't eat peaches, cherries, or hazelnuts. They all have the same protein in them that causes the allergy. It's worst with cherries, though. My face even breaks out when I just get the juice on my lips. T_T

:D I'm glad! I showed my hubby some of my work the other day and he said "wow, I didn't know you wrote all this stuff." And I said "BUT YOU'RE A MEMBER OF MY WIKI!! :O" and he said "yeah, but I never read anything..."
